In 1970 amid escalating protests against the Vienam War
six students of the Kent State University lost there lives when they
were fired upon by national guardsmen.
The Woodstock Festival took place in 1969 in New York and marked
the high point of U.S youth countercouture in the 1960's and featured Jimi Hendrix,The Who ,
Janis Joplin, The Grateful Dead and many others
In 1969 Apollo 11 took Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins

forcing President Kennedy to
declare all out war if they were to be used against the states.

became the first man to leave the
earths atmosphere.


The Berlin Wall was built in 1961 by the East German government along the border of East and West Berlin in order to stop large numbers of defectors moving from east to west


The Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961 was an unsucessful
invasion of Cuba by Cuban exiles backed by
U.S government forces in an attempt to overthrow the communist regime.

Mary Quant was a British fashion
designer credited with inventing
the mini-skirt in 1960. She was one of the originators
of the 'Mod' look making London the fashion center
of the world.
